Far away from mass-tourism, our eco-lodge resides in a rural area. Soforal lodge breathes art and culture. The authentic Diola village Berending with its hospitable inhabitants is on walking distance and also the beach side of the Atlantic Ocean is nearby.

Soforal offers guided tours into the Gambia and the Casamance, the South of Senegal. Meeting the local people and experiencing the West African culture are central themes. We take into account your personal interests as much as possible. Tailored trips or one day excursions are also possible.

Voluntary work
Soforal supports the sustainable development of Berending village. We do this by intermediating in voluntary work for basic education, health care and crafts. Also in other areas knowledge and advice is highly welcome in the community. Feel free to consult us for your personal possibilities. To people who volunteer over a longer period of time, we offer special lodging rates. Please ask for it!

The people of Berending are truly proud of their village and Diola culture. Quite rightly. From Soforal a ten minute walk brings you to Berending for a meet & greet with its inhabitants. Our staffs will be happy to accompany you for visits to the hospital, the schools, the community women's garden and the sports fields.
